Bio
Lloyd Lee is currently a program associate at the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation where he facilitates the full cycle of grant development and management for its science program. A bioengineer by training with an emphasis in tissue engineering from UC Berkeley, Lloyd is an avid rock climber, one of the Bay Area's premier youth cellists, and has a dog named Lily.

Fact or Fiction: Gordon and Betty Moore Edition
  1. Betty Moore was born in Los Gatos and grew up on a fruit ranch - FACT, she also attended Los Gatos High School.

  2. Gordon Moore was born and raised in Pescadero, where his father was the county sheriff - FICTION, Gordon Moore was born in San Francisco, CA and grew up in nearby Pescadero, where his father was the county sheriff.

  3. Gordon Moore met his wife Betty while attending University of California at Berkeley - FICTION, Gordon met his wife Betty while attending San Jose State College. He met her before transferring from San Jose State to UC Berkeley, where he earned his BS degree in chemistry. Betty earned her bachelor's degree in journalism from San Jose State in 1949, and married Gordon the following year.

  4. Intel Corporation was co-founded by Gordon Moore and Robert Noyce. It was originally started as “Moore Noyce” Electronics - FICTION, Intel was originally started as NM Electronics. Moore and Noyce quickly rejected "Moore Noyce", near homophone for "more noise" – an ill-suited name for an electronics company, since noise in electronics is usually undesirable and typically associated with bad interference. Instead, they founded the company as NM Electronics (or MN Electronics)
